THS Joins Pittsburgh Cultural Trust at Benedum Center
On Wednesday, August 16, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust invited members of the local media to be in attendance as they lowered the chandeliers at the Benedum Center for their yearly cleaning.
The Benedum Center has no performances scheduled this week, which gives the workers plenty of time to take care of over 90 chandeliers throughout the theater.
Positioned in the center of the theater’s auditorium ceiling, the main chandelier weighs 4,700 pounds, is 20 feet high and 12 feet wide and decorated with 500,000 crystals, possibly Czechoslovakian in origin, of varying sizes.
It was a memorable experience that we are happy to take part in. For more coverage on this event, visit our Facebook page to watch our Live videos from the cleaning.
