This elegantly appointed room was the Ladies’ Lounge at the Norshore Theatre. The grandest theatres of the Golden Age of Cinema (or at the very least, the Golden Age of Cinema Attendance), often had separate men’s and ladies’ lounges. People often attended multiple screenings in one go and needed a place to freshen up. Sitting in an auditorium with 2,500 or more people for hours at a time could certainly make one desire a rest!
