After a bit of a delay, the American Theatre Architecture Archive returns! This week we will focus on the interesting role of the Lichtman Theatre circuit in 1928-1948.

Founded by Abraham E. Lichtman, this circuit consisted of over 30 theatres at its height, all serving the African American community in the midst of the Jim Crow South. The Lichtman Theatre circuit represents an interesting example of how segregation effected every aspect of life, down to the simple pleasure of going to attend a move, but also tells the story of a truly unique businessman.
