In honor of April’s designation as National Jazz Appreciation Month, we are going to spend the first full week of April exploring the history of the W.C. Handy Theater. 

Memphis, Tennessee’s W.C. Handy Theater was founded in 1946 and for a period of time was one of the most successful and star-making theaters in the region. As this local Fox new article shows, however, in more recent years the theater had fallen into disuse and was demolished in 2012.
